DVR H Series Upgrade Instructions

Please check our website regularly for firmware upgrades for your DVR system. Software updates can be done one of two ways; via local device (CD/DVD or USB) or via the Internet. If the “Upgrade via Internet” option is not available for selection then it is not an available upgrade option for the current firmware on your DVR and the upgrade can only be completed via local device.

Do not power down, remove the power, or attempt to stop the firmware upgrade in any way.
Please note that the upgrade process can take up to 20 minutes.

If you will be upgrading via local device, you must first download the firmware from our website and copy it to a USB or CD/DVD. Please follow this link to download the latest firmware; H Series Firmware Upgrade. The user name and password are both “guest” and the file path is;
 /Optiview/DVRs/Embedded DVR/ H-Series/Software/Firmware/DVR-H
From this location, run and install the program file; DVRH-fw.4658-OEM.exe
Upon completion there will be a new folder on your PC desktop labeled “UPD_xxx”. Please copy and paste this folder on to your USB drive or burn it to a CD/DVD.

To upgrade your DVR system (please insert the USB or CD/DVD with the firmware on it if upgrading locally at this point) and follow these instructions;

  1. Login via the admin account
  2. Select System Setup menu
  3. Choose option 1 – System/Version Info
  4. Choose Upgrade Via Local device or Upgrade Via Internet (Continue to step 5 for local upgrade, skip to step 8  for upgrade via internet)
  5. Select the firmware to upgrade to by hitting the “Enter” button on the front of the DVR and then using the Up/Down arrow to scroll to the “Yes” option and hit the “Enter” button again.
  6. The system will display the following warning; “Upgrade in progress! Do not Power off or reboot the system! Please standby”
  7. Once the upgrade is finished the DVR will reboot and you may resume normal operations.
  8. The DVR will attempt to search the internet for any available firmware upgrades. This process may take up to 10 to 15 minutes.
  9. Press the “Enter” button on the selected firmware and use the Up/Down arrow to change the selection to “Yes” and press the “Enter” button again.
  10. At this point the “Yes” option will continue to flash for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. During this time frame the system is performing the upgrade. Do not Power off or reboot the system! The DVR will reboot once the upgrade is finished and you may resume normal operations.
